Fool

Despite the effort, still I fail
And wondering what I live for
A valueless existence - pain
Is all I am anymore

The sands run short and apathy
-The best that I can manage-
I see there is no reason left,
Nor anything to scavenge.

My speech is tired, head bowed low
Shoulders hanging in defeat
And though I tried - I truly did-
My fate - too strong - I just can't beat

I smile a bit - to think of it
A fool to even try
There never was a chance for me
And why bother to cry.
